New York’s Essential Plan

The Foundation releases “Bridging the Gap: Exploring the Basic Health Option for New York,” a report by the Community Service Society, which finds that a Basic Health Plan would benefit New York. In April 2015, New York becomes one of only two states to receive federal approval of a Basic Health Plan, which New York calls the Essential Plan. More than 1 million New Yorkers receive health insurance coverage through the new plan.
