Embracing the Changemaker Model

The Foundation submits public comments for the first time, in support of a proposed federal rule that would make hospital prices and quality information more transparent, meaningful, and actionable for consumers. This is the first of numerous public comments submitted as part of the Foundation’s growing role as a changemaker. Later in 2018, the Foundation urges the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to withdraw the disastrous proposed “public charge” rule; the following year, NYHealth comments on the harms that could come from the federal Food and Nutrition Service enacting a proposed rule to impose work requirements on SNAP beneficiaries. In 2019, Foundation President and CEO David Sandman outlines the Foundation’s changemaker model in a guest piece for Alliance magazine.
