Understanding Veterans’ Health Needs

NYHealth releases the first-ever statewide assessment of the needs and preferences of New York State’s returning veterans and their families. Conducted by the RAND Corporation, it identifies considerable unmet mental health needs, along with a gap in community-based resources for veterans, half of whom report preferring to receive care and services outside the Veterans Affairs (VA) system. The report serves as a roadmap for the next decade of the Foundation’s work to improve health care, mental health, and other services and supports for New York’s veterans.
